Mariel Mokoena

I am a registered Clinical Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as well as the Board of Healthcare Funders (BHF). I have graduated with a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology and completed my clinical training at Fort Napier Psychiatric Hospital. During my training, I gained experience in community work at the local clinics, Hospitals and other remote areas of KZN, as well as providing workshops for corporate institutions. I completed my community service at Mahatma Ghandi Memorial Hospital which also included a rotation to the Phoenix Assessment and Therapy Centre as well as some local hospices.

I am primarily a psychodynamic orientated therapist, who prioritises developing an authentic and collaborative therapeutic relationship in an effort to promote therapeutic change and psychological wellbeing. Other frameworks are also integrated in my practice as every person is unique and there is no perfect framework for all individuals

I also have a special interest in forensic work and neuropsychology work, with experience in working as one of the Medical Experts for the Road Accident Fund.
